My latest live shot for the KOMU 8 News morning show. It’s more challenging than I thought it would be to consistently report live shots from 4:30am-7:00am that are relevant and newsworthy while still pre-planned to ensure they’re more interesting than me just standing in front of the wall. I’m trying to make my teases and banners a little more accurate and creative, as well as my anchor intros; and as for the shots themselves, trying to just know my material well & go with it rather than reading off of a script. I was also able to score an interview ahead of time, though I felt bad asking anyone to meet me outside in the cold at 5:30am! But Megan was an awesome sport, and I had a good time doing this one.
Plus, it was about TOMS Shoes, a business I think is interesting at the least, and that I was happy to learn more about and to pass on what I found out.
Next week, though, I want to step it up a notch more, even— really SHOW something in my live shot, whether its giving a tour of an area or showing damage from a flood or showing how a process works, even. Stay tuned for that!
